Home of all things green, apparently — and pots of gold at the end of rainbows, Ireland is first on our list of places to go on your holiday work trip abroad.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, U.S. citizens over the age of 18 can apply for a Working Holiday Visa to go to Ireland for up to one year.
You must be enrolled full-time in post- high school education or have graduated from high school or college in the last 12 months. You must apply in-person or by mail at the Embassy of Ireland in Washington or the Consulates General of Ireland in Boston, Chicago, New York or San Francisco, and cannot be in Ireland while applying.
You will need to show proof of your academic status as well as ample funds in your account of at least €1,500 and a return travel ticket or €3,000. To apply for the visa itself, you will need €250, and maybe an additional $13 USD mailing fee.
